Cellulose ethers are chemical derivatives of cellulose and serve as a natural gelling and thickening agent, as a carrier, and as a coating agent for food. They provide liquids with a viscous consistency, form jelly when heated, and have a stabilizing and emulsifying effect. In contrast to cellulose, cellulose ethers are water-soluble and therefore have various uses in the food industry.
Among other things, we offer derivatives that are produced by substitution (etherification) following alkalinization of the starting cellulose. These include water-soluble carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) and methyl hydroxy ethyl cellulose (MHEC, MC).
